British • Old • Surprise. The classic British drink dandelion and burdock is a soft beverage made from, well, dandelion and burdock roots. The recipe for D ‘n’ B (disclaimer: nobody calls it that) dates back to the Middle Ages, but the plants were originally fermented to be mildly alcoholic. Ben Shaw’s dandelion and burdock has an earthy taste (big surprise, we know) and it's a flavor cousin of sasparilla and root beer. So perhaps it's best enjoyed in a saloon environment.
