In 1904, Gabriel Posada and Valerio Tobón founded their company, Postobón, S.A. (a combination of their last names), in Medellín, Colombia. Their first product was a soft drink called Cola-Champaña. The beverage was initially delivered to bars, social clubs, and residential homes on foot and in a wagon pulled by a donkey. Posada and Tobón created several other drinks before creating the unique flavor blend used in their Colombiana Postobon, a refreshing drink with a unique flavor that some say has hints of cream soda and bubblegum. Even though it is technically considered a “cola,” the drink is a lovely light pink color. Over the years, the company has developed many other carbonated beverages and no longer relies on a donkey-pulled cart to make their deliveries. (But isn’t it fun to imagine if it still did?!)
