D. Sancho Melero Mantequera

Artisanal • Nutty • Traditional

0.8 oz

Spanish alfajores are small, cylindrical cookies made from flour, honey, nuts, and spices. The cookies originated as an Arab treat and became popular in Spain during the 12th and 13th centuries, when the Moors ruled over the region. The original alfajores were made in the Spanish town of Medina Sidonia, which was at one point the confectionery capital of the Arab world. Spanish explorers later brought alfajores with them to the Americas and variations of the cookie are incredibly popular in modern Latin American cuisine. Today, the Andalusian Ministry of Agriculture sets high standards for artisanal Spanish alfajores, including a unique cylindrical shape. These walnut alfajores are made with 40% nuts, among other high-quality ingredients. Pair them with a cup of coffee!
