Peas came to Taiwan in the 17th century when the country was under Dutch rule. But now, they’re used in a number of Taiwanese dishes and are especially popular in the form of a dried, crunchy snack. Pea crackers are available in a wide variety of flavors—these Koloko pea crackers are seasoned with pink salt and lemon for a salty, tangy, and slightly citrusy taste. Koloko is owned by the company Lian Hwa Foods, and its founder, Mr. Lee Guohong, tried over a hundred recipes and shapes before deciding that spirals made for the best snacking experience. He originally used a noodle machine to create the unique shape!

The name “salty lemon” doesn’t do enough to describe the excellent, addictive flavor of these. They are also mildly sweet and it’s that combination that keeps you going back for more.
