Pakola is the oldest beverage brand in Pakistan. It was founded by seven brothers from the Teli family who came to Pakistan from India in 1947. Their first product, a cream soda, debuted on August 14th, 1950—the third anniversary of Pakistan’s independence. The name “Pakola” combines “Pakistan” with the word “cola,” which is fitting since their cream soda is often called “Pakistan’s cola.” The iconic beverage is often enjoyed during the month of Ramadan, when it’s served at iftar, the communal meal that takes place after sunset. Pakistanis often mix the cream soda with milk for a creamy and refreshing sipping experience, though vanilla ice cream would be tasty too to turn this soda into a delicious cola float.
