‘Chilé de Arbol’ translates from Spanish to chili from a tree—these bright red, ferocious looking Mexican chilis go by dozens of different fantastical names, although our favorite would definitely be ‘rat’s tail chili.’ Despite their bright red, they’re considered a compromise chili; perfect for those who enjoy some heat, but don’t want to be scorched. They’re perfect for a thrill-seeking tortilla chip connoisseur… The crunch is perfect, but the heat is exquisite. Of course, who could say they’d properly sampled Mexican snacks if they weren’t gulping down water at least once?
