Corn snacks, including popcorn and puffed corn, have a long history in Spain. Corn first arrived in Europe in the 1500s, during the Columbian exchange. Explorers of the day encountered popcorn for the first time during an indigenous Aztec ceremony and described the burst kernels of corn as resembling white flowers. Corn puffs are another kind of popular corn snack. Whereas popcorn is made by heating whole kernels of corn, corn puffs are made by heating a mixture of cornmeal and water, which makes for a slightly softer texture (and no kernels to get stuck in your teeth!). These Doble M corn puffs are both sweet and salty—try them in place of popcorn for your next movie night.
