Beef Bulgogi

For Bulgogi

  • 1 lb sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 4 scallions, sliced
  • 1 king oyster mushroom, sliced thinly
  • 2 tbsp oil

For Marinade

  • 1/4 cup red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup rice syrup (substitute light corn syrup)
  • 1/4 cup gochujang
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup water


  1. Combine all the marinade ingredients in a medium bowl.
  2. Add the beef and mix until coated. Set aside.
  3. Heat a large shallow pan over medium-high heat. Add the oil, scallion, and mushrooms. Stir for 1 minute until the scallion is slightly brown.
  4. Lower the heat to medium, then add the marinated beef. Cook for about 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Remove from heat and serve with rice and kimchi.
